The Worldwide Websters Moorea Mystery is the first book in a series that follows the Webster family from Washington State as they travel to exciting places together. This family believes that the best work and play means shared learning, fun, and solving mysteries! Their interactions and adventures celebrate and encourage sensible, thoughtful exploration of beautiful and exciting new cities, countries, places, and societies – some which not many people have ever been fortunate enough to visit.

Keely, Meghan, and Callan Webster join their dad, Alex, a hotel software sales manager, on trips whenever they can – sometimes related to his work, and always somewhere exciting.

ALEX

A single father who has a knack for seeking local knowledge and history. He loves to meet local people and get outside on bikes, hikes, in the water, and beyond the obvious sightseeing paths wherever he travels.

KEELY

A smart, athletic pre-teen swimmer with a special love for writing and languages.

MEG

Not far behind her older sister, a soccer player with a penchant for fearless sleuthing and a bold spirit of adventure.

CAL

Loves facts and history like his dad – though he’s ‘just’ in fifth grade, he amazes many with his curiosity and intellect.

JESSICA

Sometimes, the Worldwide Websters are joined on their adventures by Jessica Forrester, their grad school student nanny from New Zealand.

The Webster clan travels are never boring – though they do try to learn and share with each other and the fascinating local characters they meet along the way. Their stories are all about the lessons gained from years of growing and traveling together with curious minds and open hearts. The Websters’ traveling adventures are honest about the rewards as well as the costs, the travails along with the triumphs, of any trip away from home.

What if, when you travelled with your family, or even as a couple or with a small group of friends, instead of slumbering or power-vacationing through passive voyages to standard tour sites and corporate chain restaurants, or sitting in separate rooms or on beaches at posh, expensive resorts, you instead took the challenge to make certain you all came back from each trip feeling like you’d really been there? That means you met local people, explored beyond your differences, learned more about their lives and challenges and what you had in common, and perhaps even made new friends for life?

The goal of all the Worldwide Websters books is for the reader’s whole family, or circle of friends – from one to many, whatever its size – to join in the fun with the traveling Webster clan as they immerse themselves, even if just a bit, in the facts, history, language, music, art, and history of each country and region explored.

Traveling – especially with younger family members – is not always easy. Readers will benefit from author M. Scott Hamilton’s and his family’s actual experiences and recommendations as frequent business and leisure travelers. In each book, insightful tips and tricks of travel used by the Webster family members can often help readers to better plan their own adventures together.

Whatever your family looks like, you’ll have fun right alongside the Worldwide Websters as they plan and embark upon their family’s exciting vacation travels. You’ll learn so much about the places they go and the historical and cultural details they discover that you just may want to go yourself, and trace the paths where they go. You don’t have to be a family either. Here’s your invitation to travel with the Websters – whether through the book, in future multimedia guides, in person – or virtually – via helpful suggestions, tips, and other resources.

M. Scott Hamilton is a nearly lifelong ‘creative’ writer and storyteller. He started writing fanciful, funny stories in the fourth grade and hasn’t stopped trying to keep doing so, for business or pleasure, ever since.

His dream is to combine his loves for immersive travel and words and thoughtful communication – including extensive in person, journalistic, and background-building research experience gained in the corporate world – to share stories of excitement, connection, and discovery with his readers. With the Worldwide Websters, he aims to delight and inspire other families to travel in adventurous and locally-aware, culturally and environmentally sensitive – and sensible – ways, wherever they wish to explore together.

A single parent for most of his kids’ lives, Scott had dreamed of and visualized writing this series for more than two decades. With a diverse and varied list of destinations already visited, he has made it a priority – since each of his own three children were very young – to try to consistently introduce himself and his family members to new places and people. With a career in sales and finance that provided him the opportunity to travel, he’s occasionally been able to combine business and personal trips into shared family experiences. In every domestic or overseas itinerary, Scott and his family members have seen firsthand the value of caring just a bit more than the average tourist about local history, culture, cuisine, and – always – actively exploring beyond the obvious attractions and activities on foot, in the water, by bike, bus, car, boat, or even plane.

Scott is a former competitive swimmer and college newspaper editor who has combined success working in the large and small business world with trying to be the best parent and travel partner to his kids. He has volunteered in both simple and major ways at his children’s schools, in state higher education institutions, and in several community development and environmental sustainability initiatives while living in Washington State, New York, and Connecticut.

When not working, Scott and his wife Sharon can often be found exploring a new spot on the world-wide map, and/or biking, swimming, hiking, or camping. They now make their home back in the beautiful Pacific Northwest – and the kids aren’t ever too far away to join them for another family adventure!
